Sidewalk survey · Ortigas Center, Pasig

Meralco Ave → Sapphire Rd

One phone video, measured metre by metre with two off-the-shelf vision models and no training. Each strip below is one attribute of the sidewalk, laid along the metres walked; every measurement is filed at the spot it describes, not where the camera stood.

Along the walk

Hover or drag across the strips to see the spot. Arrow keys step a metre (Shift: 10).

What stood out

The only way across was a footbridge with stairs. From 99 to 111 s you climb a long flight of stairs, cross a covered footbridge (114 to 147 s), and come down on the other side. Nobody in a wheelchair, with a stroller or with bad knees can follow this route. The model has no idea: it has no class for stairs, so it calls these frames "unclear", and on the bridge deck it flips between "sidewalk" and "road". This is the biggest accessibility barrier in any walk so far, and the pipeline currently can't see it.

Before the bridge: shade, but in a road-level lane. The first 30 s run under big trees beside a green-painted bike lane. From 30 to 58 s the trees open up and you walk on a concrete strip separated from stalled motorcycles, bicycles and cars only by a painted line, with puddles at 45 to 48 s. The model calls this strip "road". That's defensible, since it's at road level with nothing between you and traffic, but it may be a designated walking lane. Either way it's a different situation from a blocked sidewalk.

Crowding near the bridge. From 60 to 93 s the walk passes a covered waiting shed and goes under trees by the bridge landing. People walking just ahead hide the ground (66 to 78 s), so the "unclear" frames here are a camera limit, not a surface problem. An orange water barrier stands in the path at 96 s.

After the bridge: a wide sidewalk. You cross a plaza and an intersection with a blue-painted bike crossing (156 to 169 s). Then comes a paved sidewalk 2 to 2.7 m wide under palms, ending at the Sapphire Road corner (183 s), with parked motorcycles at the edges.

The distance is short. The video's own estimate is 158 m. On the stairs and the bridge the ground is hard to track, so odometry undercounts there. Placing this walk on the map will give the real length.
